Basic Safety Training | Global Wind Organization (GWO) Training
Safety is of utmost importance in the wind energy industry, and VOTC is proud to offer Global Wind Organization (GWO)-certified Basic Safety Training (BST) programs. These training sessions adhere to the highest global safety standards and equip personnel with the necessary skills to safely work in both onshore and offshore wind farms. Our GWO-certified instructors provide hands-on, practical training, ensuring participants are fully prepared for the unique challenges that come with working in the wind energy sector.
The Global Wind Organization Basic Safety Training program consists of five core modules:
1. First Aid
In this module, participants learn to administer essential first aid during emergencies or on-site injuries. Topics covered include CPR, wound treatment, and shock management. This training is critical for quick and effective response in potentially hazardous environments.
2. Manual Handling
This module teaches workers how to safely handle tools, equipment, and heavy objects. The proper techniques help minimize injury risks and reduce strain during daily tasks. By improving handling skills, workers can enhance their efficiency and well-being in demanding work environments.
3. Fire Awareness
Fire prevention is key in any industrial setting, and wind energy projects are no different. The Fire Awareness module educates participants on identifying fire hazards and the correct procedures to follow in case of an emergency. Participants also learn how to use firefighting equipment and safely evacuate in case of fire.
4. Working at Heights
Due to the nature of wind turbines, working at heights is a regular aspect of the job. This module focuses on the correct use of safety harnesses, ladders, and fall-arrest systems. Training is aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring safety while working at elevated levels.
5. Sea Survival
For personnel involved in offshore wind projects, sea survival training is crucial. This module equips participants with the skills needed to handle emergency situations at sea, such as vessel evacuations and surviving in open water. Practical exercises, such as the use of life rafts and personal flotation devices, are included to ensure readiness for offshore work.
